The 'real' subject has to with an attempt to capture a sequence or pattern of thoughts, to articulate uncertain feelings and memories.

During my engagement with surface and media, the marks and colour
are gradually obscured, leaving only traces.  They become images in their own right with possible suggestions of place and atmosphere.  These 'places', however, exist outside my physical experience.
